B - Required Documents

Have the following documents ready:

Valid passport (for international travel);
Driver’s license issued at least 2 years ago, from the same country as your passport or ID (for domestic rentals);
International Driving Permit (IDP), required in some countries.

C - Credit Card

You must present a physical credit card with the following characteristics:

Issued in your name;
Enabled for international transactions (for rentals outside your country);
Valid throughout the rental period;
With available limit for the security deposit hold.

Yes. To rent a car with Movix Rent a Car, it is mandatory to present a physical credit card that:

Is enabled for international use (if applicable);
Be valid for the entire rental period;
Have sufficient available limit for the security deposit hold.

Important: Virtual, prepaid, or digital cards are not accepted by rental companies.

What is the International Driving Permit (IDP)? Is it mandatory to rent a car abroad?

The IDP (International Driving Permit) is a document that translates the information on your license into up to 8 languages, allowing you to drive legally in over 100 countries.

Languages included: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, German, and French.

In some destinations, especially in Europe and Asia, the IDP is mandatory.

Important:

The IDP complements but does not replace your original driver’s license;
It must be issued by your local DMV or equivalent authority;

Go to the support area, click on “Help” then “Online Chat”;
Request the change through our virtual assistant and confirm on the same screen.

In cases of force majeure, such as medical emergencies, serious illness, or natural disasters, we may waive the cancellation fee.

You must present supporting documentation, such as a medical certificate or death certificate.

Other situations like delays, canceled flights, or unforeseen events may still be subject to charges.

Will I receive proof of cancellation?

How long does it take to receive a refund for a canceled reservation?

If your reservation was paid online, the eligible refund will be initiated as soon as the cancellation is confirmed.

The refund will be processed within 7 business days, depending on your credit card operator's terms.

Can I get a refund if I return the vehicle before the scheduled date?

If the vehicle is returned before the date specified in the contract, the total rental rate will not be adjusted, and rental companies do not issue refunds for unused days, except in specific, well-documented cases such as providing a medical certificate or death certificate.

To request a refund for unused rental days, you must gather the required documentation and follow the steps below:

Provide the reservation code;
Submit a detailed explanation of the situation;
Attach the relevant documents, such as the rental agreement and proof of payment.

What happens if I don't show up on the day of the car rental (No-show)?

Failure to show up on the pickup date is considered a 'No-show' and may result in a one-day charge or even the full amount of the reservation, depending on the rental company's policy.

No-show:

Not showing up within 29 minutes after the scheduled time, during the location's business hours;
Canceling the service without prior notice.

Avoid extra charges: if you know you won’t make it, cancel or modify your reservation in advance under “My Reservations”.

What should I do if I lose the rental car keys?

In the event of loss, misplacement, or theft of the vehicle key during the rental period, it is essential that you contact the rental company responsible for the agreement directly to report the situation and follow their instructions.

The loss of a key is considered a significant incident and is the sole responsibility of the customer, and it may result in additional costs related to replacement.

Movix does not handle the operational management of this type of situation. Our role is limited to providing the rental company’s contact details so you can address the matter directly with them.

We recommend acting promptly and having the following information available when contacting the rental company: reservation number, rental agreement, current vehicle location, and a clear description of what happened. This will help speed up the assistance process.

Please note that, in many cases, keys (especially electronic or chip-based ones) can be costly and are generally not covered by standard protection plans unless a specific additional service has been purchased.

If you have added roadside assistance, check with the rental company whether this service includes support for lost keys, as conditions may vary. It is not recommended to attempt to open or force the vehicle on your own, as this may cause additional damage and result in extra charges.

As with other situations during the rental (such as fines, damages, or additional charges), each case will be evaluated according to the terms outlined in the rental agreement. To prevent this type of issue, we recommend always keeping the key in a safe place and reviewing the rental company’s policies regarding lost keys at the time of vehicle pickup.

What are the criteria and conditions for accepting documents and payment methods at the time of vehicle pickup?

Please note that all policies regarding the acceptance of documents and payment methods are determined exclusively by the rental company providing the vehicle. These policies may vary between rental companies and locations, and Movix does not have prior visibility into, nor control over, the specific criteria applied in each case.

In this regard, the rental company may accept or reject, at its sole discretion, the documentation presented by the customer at the time of pickup, without the need to provide any additional justification.

This includes, but is not limited to, credit cards, driver’s licenses, identification documents, and any other locally required credentials. The evaluation may take into account factors such as validity, ownership, document category, the rental company’s internal policies, issuing bank restrictions, or specific operational requirements.

Movix acts solely as an intermediary in the reservation process and has no control over the criteria applied by the rental company. Therefore, Movix shall not be held responsible for any refusals, limitations, or inability to deliver the vehicle resulting from the non-acceptance of the documentation or payment method presented.

Can I rent a baby seat or child booster?

Yes! Some partner rental companies with Movix Rent a Car offer baby seats or child boosters for an additional fee.

How to request:

When making your reservation, select the car category;
During the customization step, add the desired optional items such as baby seats;
If you didn’t add it online, you can check availability at the rental counter upon pickup.

Availability of these items is limited, so we cannot guarantee they will be available at the time of pickup.

What is the rental agreement? What is its purpose?
